2004 Volvo XC70
The Story
While originally searching for a small, beater pickup truck back in 2022 (as a daily for "Jody", my Volvo S60, and as a workhorse for hauling larger parts), I thought, "Why not, instead, find a wagon that's a P2 Volvo, like Jody?" So then, the search for a (preferably) naturally-aspirated 2000-07 V70 began.
After having a hard time searching for ANY P2-based Volvo wagon back in 2022, I came across this 2004 XC70 on Facebook Marketplace, which was only about 15 minutes from where I lived at the time, so checking it out right away was a no-brainer. After giving it a shakedown, I almost immediately thought it was worth giving it some TLC back home.
Over a relatively short period of time of driving and fixing her up, I figured "Rosalina" from Super Mario Galaxy was the perfect name for this XC70. Not only do they share similar colors, this XC70's "personality" strongly matches that of Rosalina's; Powerful, yet quiet, reserved, and "motherly" in a way that is parallel to this XC's all around comfort. She also earned the affectionate nickname, "CHONKY WAGIN".
There is a caveat, though; Being a turbocharged, AWD wagon that's over two decades old makes Rosalina much more "needy" with servicing/repairs, and "sensitive" to certain driving habits compared to Jody—Despite being newer than Jody by more than 2 years, and with lower mileage. However, regardless, Rosalina grew on me VERY quickly, and I'm more than glad I got her...even though, I was never a wagon person to begin with.
