The Story
Yes it’s a real R with the dark birchwood interior :)
My brother was working at a local Volvo dealership when this came in for many maintenance issues, after diagnosis the owner was informed it was mechanically totaled and that’s when he texted me a pic and I was able to snap it up for 1,500$. ( keep in mind this was 2014 ) The car ran but needed the normal timing belt and PCV along with many other engine maintenance items.
The suspension and brakes and all around were shot, needed 2 new wheel bearings, broken sway bar end links, broken tie rods, leaking brake lines, and bent wheel, it was puking oil from the oil cooler lines…..it goes on. Then in 2017 it drops a valve in cylinder 5, luckily in the closed position and does not make contact with the piston.
I pulled the head off and had that rebuilt to stock specs with new valves, the stock 15g got taken out and rebuilt and then every part I could touch in the engine bay got replaced and gone through,
Then after getting the motor and engine bay put back together,
it got ipd lowering springs and sway bars front and rear. Bilstein b4 touring shocks and Drilled and slotted rotors with carbon pads.
With all the little mods and stuff it’s probably around 290-300hp which is the limit of the stock automatic transmission and the little 15g is spinning the most boost it can under load, car handles amazing and pulls so good. Very fun and very rare car.
