2006 Pontiac GTO
The Story
The GTO had always been one of my dream cars as I was growing up. I think I'd have to credit it to the game Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2, in which you could drive the Holden HSV Coupe GTS. In case you're unfamiliar, the 5th generation GTO (2004-2006) is basically just a rebadged Holden Monaro. That being said, the HSV from the game looked identical to the GTO that I now own and I loved driving it in the game. I don't think it was a conscious decision but then I started seeing them occasionally at car shows and loved how they sounded. I started learning as much about them as I could and finally in 2016 I had the privilege to test drive one at a dealership and although I didn't end up buying that one, it solidified my love for the car. Two years later I found mine in Orlando, FL and it has been an amazing journey since then. I absolutely love the rarity of the car. More often than not, I am the only GTO at car shows. The car turns a lot of heads, especially among the old-timers, who reminisce about the original GTO, the "GOAT".
